How ArkDB Will Work
Designed for live, application-aware backups without downtime: applications are briefly quiesced for a consistent snapshot, then keep running while the agent reads from it.
Install one agent
A single lightweight agent is designed to run on Windows Server, Windows 10/11, and major Linux distributions, with no runtime to install and no per-database plugins.
Choose what to protect
You will point ArkDB at SQL Server and PostgreSQL instances, whole volumes for image backup, and your Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Zoho tenants.
Schedule, encrypt, ship
Planned: cron-style schedules and backup windows, AES-256 encryption before anything leaves the server, and Grandfather-Father-Son retention to your chosen storage.
Verify and restore
Restore a single database, a folder, or an entire machine. Automated restore checks are designed to confirm your backups actually come back before you need them.
What We're Building
Planned capabilities for IT admins who wear many hats and MSPs who manage dozens of clients. Details may change as development continues.
SQL Server backup
Planned full, differential, and transaction-log backups for SQL Server 2016 and later, with log shipping designed to keep data loss to a minimum.
PostgreSQL with PITR
Planned pg_dump, pg_basebackup, and continuous WAL archiving for point-in-time recovery on PostgreSQL 12 and later.
Application-aware images
Full and incremental computer images designed to coordinate with SQL Server, Exchange, and Hyper-V so snapshots are transactionally consistent.
Bare metal restore
Planned recovery media to bring a failed server back on new hardware, plus the option to mount an image as a virtual machine.
Microsoft 365, Google & Zoho
Mailboxes, drives, calendars, contacts, and Teams or shared drives will be backed up on a recurring schedule, with point-in-time restore.
Your storage, your choice
Planned support for Amazon S3, Azure Blob, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, SFTP, and local or NAS targets. We don't plan to lock storage destinations behind higher tiers.
Automated restore verification
Backups will be periodically restored into an isolated sandbox and checked, producing pass/fail evidence you can hand to an auditor.
Encrypted before upload
Backups will be encrypted with AES-256 on your server before upload, so your storage provider only holds ciphertext.
Notifications that fit your team
Planned alerts via Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, PagerDuty, email, and webhooks for successes, failures, and verification results.
